Description:
Willow has been with us since 25th July and has had a rough time of it. Willow was found as a stray in a ladies back garden in Barrow town centre, cowering in a kids play house covered in fleas, dehydrated and sat in her own urine. Willow was not chipped, neutered and was in poor health but despite this had a lovely calm temperament from day one.
Willow has had lots of vets treatments for her poor skin condition (caused by the fleas), dehydration, dental surgery, neutering. On top of getting her back to full health she started to experience periods of sickness and bloating, she has recently had lots of exploratory surgery/scans to determine why she was being sick/bloated. Willow has been diagnosed with IBS which can be managed with gastro food diet and a low dose of steroids (for the rest of her life), since the diagnoses and the new diet/treatment she has been going from strength to strength.
Despite all Willow has been through she has been the most loving and cuddly cat, all the volunteers love her. Willow loves a lap, she will jump up on your lap and curl up for hours and wants to receive lots of pets. Willow also likes to have a little play.
Willow would like a quiet calm home with owners who will give her a lap to sleep on. She would prefer a home with no other animals.

Thinking of adopting one of our animals?
Our Branch is dedicated to finding the best ‘forever’ home for each of our animals. Their species, personality, age, health and background are all considered carefully. We seek to find them each a home where they will live a happy and healthy life and be able to express their natural behaviour. We embrace the ‘Five Freedoms’ set out in the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Although our re-homing procedures are designed to guard against mismatched animals, if the animal doesn't settle in their new home, the RSPCA will ask for his/her return in order to find a more compatible alternative home. PLEASE NOTE: In the interest of our cats we usually do not allow rehoming to homesholds with multiple pets (special cases will be considered).Adoption Procedures
- If you are interested in adopting a cat, please fill in our enquiry form here and submit via email/post. If you need any further information or help completing a form please contact the branch via one of the options here.
- The branch will review your adoption requests and contact you to arrange a viewing.
- If you wish to proceed with the adoption we will then arrange a home visit which will be carried out by one of our qualified home visitors. This can be done in person or via video call. The purpose of our home visits are listed below:
- Our animals are our first concern. We seek to find home environments which are suitable for each specific animal’s needs.
- All home visits are carried out in accordance with nationally agreed RSPCA guidelines.
- They provide the Branch the opportunity to discuss the proposed adoption with the entire family in the comfort of their own home and offer the home visitor the opportunity to answer questions with regard to the animal’s needs and care requirements.
- They allow us to provide information, advice and resources to assist in the event the visit is successful and the adoption process is approved to go forward.
- Should the home visit be successful, we will provide information regarding the adoption process.
- The animal will have a full health check by our vet before leaving the cattery to ensure that it is fit and healthy.
- A donation to the RSPCA (we ask for a minimum donation of £100 for cats and £150 kittens) is required from you at the time the adoption paperwork is completed. This donation helps to offset some of the costs of the following:
- Vaccinations
- Flea & worming treatment
- Micro-chipping (for identification)
- Neutering
- Veterinary Health check
- Cattery fees
